Jacksonville Laser Show

Jacksonville, Texas is a small town in deep East Texas, at the crossroads of Highway 69 & Highway 79, the kind of place you stop off at on your way north or south to fill up the tank and grab a snack. 2022 was the 150th year of Jacksonville, and they were proud and determined to celebrate their Sesquicentennial in style!

This show was a challenge due to the very long footprint of the event, all the way from the Tomato Bowl stadium at one end of Commerce Street, to Bolton Street at the other end. After quite a few walks in the area, we decided to do the laser show in two steps – first, a show centered on the small stage that was set up for the bands, and the second, a laser mapping show on one side of Commerce Street between Bolton and Ragsdale – a long length of two blocks!

The theme for the day was “Red, White, and Blue” so we had a few patriotic numbers in the laser show. And once the last note played from the stage, we began to trace the outlines of all of the shops on that side of the street, and the lasers began dancing over the buildings to the pumping music of Tim Walsh’s “Drumbeams”.
